Many states now mandate specific actions be taken for students scoring below a certain point on state standardized tests. In South Carolina, Academic Plans are created for students scoring Below Basic on the PACT exam. The plans are reviewed and updated every grading period. In Georgia, Student Support Teams (SSTs) use the Academic Plan to document meeting minutes, actions and goals for improving the student's performance. The plan is reviewed and updated during SST meetings and/or parent conferences.
Before TestView, writing Academic Plans for these students required 2 to 3 days of work per classroom. After TestView, teachers are able to automatically create and implement consistent Academic Plans based on the district's official plan of action. Certain requirements are pre-checked by default and implemented in the child's Academic Plan. Teachers can customize the plan actions or manually create additonal plans as needed.
Teachers can also easily create a Spanish version of the academic plan for students whose parents are not fluent in English.
In addition, TestView provides boilerplate letters such as the "no show" letter, which can be printed and sent to parents who fail to attend the parent-teacher conference required for students placed on an Academic Plan. This is another time saver for the teacher.
