Letter of Recommendation from Richland County School District Two, Columbia SC

To Whom It May Concern:

The TestView system was originally conceived by the academic and information technology teams here in Richland Two. The technical development of the system itself was performed by VC3, Inc., of Columbia, who worked closely with Richland Two and have since applied the newest web technologies available today to make the system really powerful. In just seconds, teachers and administrators can have at their fingertips a comprehensive view of all pertinent test score information about students, both current and historical, and use this information for the construction of knowledge and data-driven foundations of decision support.

When teachers return to campus at the beginning of each school year, they immediately have available on their computer desktops a "class performance profile" showing the strengths, weaknesses and other performance information about the kids they will teach for the year. This helps the teachers make intelligence-driven classroom level decisions affecting the strategies the teacher will use in delivering curricula in ways best suited for each child. With direct links to SASI information, the data is kept current in an automatic way and provides "drill down" capabilities for things like student course history and transcript data. For your power users, there's also an easy way to pull data into programs like Excel, SPSS or SAS.

New this year, the PlanView feature was released for automating the process of generating EAA Student Academic Achievement Plans, and completely streamlining the process ranging from student identification, academic plan document creation and management, to parent conference resources and permanent records storage in an easy-to-use web-based presentation. Taking the academic plan to a higher level, it includes MAP scores in a graphic presentation for communicating student growth and performance goals to parents. On the first day of school, teachers who have students requiring academic plans receive an automatically generated e-mail notifying them of this fact, and provides a direct web link to the location of the online academic plans for each student. The teachers then simply "tweak" the plans according to particular student issues. This feature saves untold hours for teachers and frees them to focus on student instruction rather than cumbersome paperwork.

For information about implementing TestView, you can contact David Dunn of VC3, Inc. (803) 733-7333.

You can also contact me or Dr. Jennifer Gouvin, Director of Quality Assessment, if you need additional information at 803.787.1910.
