Technical Requirements
Does TestView require special software to be installed on each user's PC?
No. TestView is a web-based tool which is housed on a server at the district. Users access TestView using their web browser. No software is installed on each user's machine.
What hardware and software is required to implement TestView?
Platform
TestView is built around the Microsoft .NET platform and is designed to leverage your existing IT infrastructure. Because it's a web-based application there's no special client software to install but instead uses Internet Explorer. Behind the scenes TestView relies on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 for reliable and high-performance data storage and reporting.
SASIxp™ Integration
If your district is using SASI then TestView links your district's SASI data with test score data. Changes made in SASI to student, teacher, schedule, transcript, and attendance data are automatically imported into TestView nightly. TestView enables historical reporting by storing data that may no longer be available in SASI.
LDAP Authentication
In order to simplify user management hassles, TestView uses your district's LDAP directory for user authentication and profile management. Popular LDAP directories include Novell eDirectory and Microsoft Active directory.
Deployment Options
TestView is designed to be hosted internally by your district. Typically a single dedicated server with the following specifications is recommended:
| Hardware Requirements |
| CPU |
Dual 1.0 GHz or Single 2.x Ghz P4 |
| RAM |
512 MB + 1.5 times the size of the database file (up to 4 GB) |
| Storage |
RAID hard drives with approximately 0.1 GB of free disk space for every 10,000 students, per year. For example: 20,000 students and 5 years of data 1 GB. |
| Software Requirements |
| Windows |
Windows Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server + .NET 1.1 Redistributable |
| IIS |
Internet Information Server 5.0 or later |
| SQL Server |
SQL Server 2000 or 2005 (Standard or Enterprise Edition) with latest service packs. |
Additionally, other configurations are supported such as running the web site or database on a shared server and/or running the web site on a server separate from the database.
